Bee

Weldon was stung by a bee the other day. Before it happened. She had no fear. She ran into the yard chasing the giant bumble bees around, laughing and pointing. “Bee! Bee!”

And then she got stung. The shock and horror on her little face was heartbreaking. She had trusted the world completely before that. Now she screams “Bee!” in horror. Warning us of any flying enemy that might betray her.

But after looking both ways before stepping outside, she charges right back out there. She points down any small thing with wings. “Bee!” Letting it know she has her eyes on it. She won’t be fooled again. And she won’t let them ruin her fun.

So I’m following her lead yet again. Pulling myself up by my bootstraps, and getting back out there. Writing, job hunts, all of the mountains I want to climb will try and bite me in the ass. But I see them. And it may sting for a moment, but I won’t let it ruin my fun.
